Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson hinted during an interview with Total Film, and just days before Comic Con opens in San Diego, that he’ll portray Shazam for the big screen. Shazam is DC Comics’ Captain Marvel as a boy who, when he says the magic word “Shazam” transforms into a man with Herculean strength and the power of flight. Yes, Herculean. As in the Greek demigod The Rock is playing now in theaters.
As Shazam, The Rock would wear the mortal’s signature red costume with a long cloak and hood, and a gold lightning bolt emblazoned across his muscular chest. DC Comics fans are now wondering who will play his alter ego — the troubled 15-year-old boy Billy Batson. Odds are on Dakota Goyo who played the young Chris Hemsworth in Thor.
