If ESPN were to publish a Most Eligible Bachelor Athlete list, eighteen-time Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps would be on it. He’s got the “Greek Physique” which is featured in the current ESPN The Magazine’s Body Issue. He’s a good guy: fellow Olympian Ryan Lochte credits Phelps for saving his career. And, let’s face it, the ladies like Phelps.
He claims to be “absolutely terrible at golf” (humility another good quality), but that doesn’t keep him from enjoying the sport. This weekend he was in his hometown of Baltimore, in the gallery at the inaugural LPGA International Crowd tournament–the tourney is like a World Cup of women’s golf. The American team was eliminated (Spain won) but the American LPGA champion Paula Creamer recovered quickly after meeting Phelps on the course. Creamer gushed that she “almost fell over” when she met him. Yes, Creamer did just get engaged to a hunky Navy pilot in December, but they haven’t set a date yet!
