His namesake may have taken the limelight from Brazilian soccer legend Ronaldo, but the 38-year-old is back and ready to light up the soccer world once again, albeit in the NASL and as part-owner of the Fort Lauderdale Strikers, the superstar is returning to sport following a foray into the world of poker.
In 2013, just two years after his retirement from soccer, Ronaldo traded the field for the felt, and when PokerStars signed him up as an ambassador they put him up against avid Real Madrid fan Rafa Nadal in a head-to-head duel. The two-time World Cup winner lost, and he’ll be hoping his former club won’t come back to haunt him again, with his new side having to go up against Madrid legend Raul’s New York Cosmos.
