“Both sides are at fault here,” says South Carolina congresswoman Nancy Mace. Mace spoke with Fox News offering a candid bipartisan critique of the current debt limit issue. “When you look at President Trump, he added almost $8 trillion to the debt when he was President. President Biden has added almost $5 trillion.”
Mace says: “Both sides need to come together. The President needs to negotiate with Republicans and fix the mess that they both created.”

As Mace calls for both parties to get down to brass tacks, Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy preps his GOP coalition, such as it is, for a debt ceiling showdown while trying to extract spending cut concessions and cut programs — including the planned hiring of new IRS agents to collect revenue.
The looming showdown threatens to throw financial markets into a perilous uncertainty mode, as Hillary Clinton, among others, has warned. Mace acknowledges that while the debt ceiling may be a convenient trigger for talk about the budget, the two aren’t directly related and real budget talk is still not happening. “I don’t understand why we’re not having a conversation about the budget,” Mace says, adding that some “in leadership don’t want to have that conversation right now. I want to know that there’s a plan…”
It’s not the first time lately that Mace has told her colleagues they were off track, and that it was a danger to the party.
Republican Rep. Nancy Mace on @ThisWeekABC warned her conservative colleagues that they would "lose huge" with voters if they continue passing strict abortion bans at the state level rather than finding what she called a "middle ground" on the issue.https://t.co/XxHmfrb9AN
