Pat Beverley and Russell Westbrook are officially erstwhile enemies — bygones being bygones and all. “That’s how it is in this game,” Beverley said, explaining his fresh affection for his new Lakers teammate. “You reintroduce the people you been introduced to.”
Westbrook, gearing up for a monster season to show up (and shut up) the haters and naysayers, is doubtless happy to have a game running mate in Beverley, a grit-and-grind defender who doesn’t need shots. (Because goodness knows there are already more shooters than shots on the Lakers roster.)
Beverley shared that Westbrook and he work out together in the gym — they have the same “body man” he reveals. Asked about the once antagonistic relationship between Westbrook and himself, Beverley is frank about the détente: “If there was a best friend to have on the team right now, and everyone has them, I’d say Russ.” Got that? Things change!
