NBA superstar Kevin Durant is the most valuable piece of the star-studded Brooklyn Nets team. Durant, a two-time NBA Finals MVP, is even more highly valued than the unstoppable offensive force James Harden and the mercurial perennial All-Star Kyrie Irving. So whatever Durant thinks is going to influence how his team thinks, and how the Nets go about their business headed into a season of very high expectations.
So what does KD believe about the Kyrie “situation,” now that the point guard is missing in action due to a team decision to exclude him from games and practice until his COVID-19 vaccination status changes? It’s too bad because look how happy they were before the decision:
And how is it today? Durant wants Irving around, on the court. He wants the team at full strength. He wants what you see pictured above. But KD also knows to try to deal directly only with things that are within his control, and to let those outside his control work themselves out.
“What is being mad going to do?” Durant said. “We are not going to change [Irving’s] mind, know what I’m saying? We’ll let him figure out what he needs to do and the team figure out what they need to do.”
Durant also said: “This is not the ideal situation coming into the season. But some of this, it’s out of our control. So, what we can do is come in and focus on our jobs every single day.” In other words, live and let live. Meanwhile, Durant looks ready.
