If you’ve ever watched a televised tennis match during the annual U.S. Open championship held in Flushing, Queens, New York City, you’ve seen a TV commercial for Kim Crawford Wines. The latest advertising campaign is titled “Make It Amazing” — see below.
The New Zealand winery was launched in 1996 and quickly became known for its top-selling Sauvignon Blanc in the U.S. (Kim Crawford Wines was first exported to the US in 1998.)
In 2003, Kim Crawford and his wife Erica Crawford sold the label to Canada’s Vincor International for, according to Forbes, “a small fortune.” Three years later, Vincor was acquired by New York-based drinks giant Constellation Brands, which “has built the label into a powerhouse, especially in the U.S.”
In 2019, Kim Crawford Wines partnered with the USTA (United States Tennis Association) and became the official wine of the U.S. Open. In 2021, the wine company returned as the exclusive wine partner and, in addition to its famous Sauvignon Blanc and Rose wines, is also serving a Frosé cocktail at bars and bar carts located across the property of the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
