It’s hard to believe four years have passed since the series premiere of NBC’s family drama This Is Us. Actress and star Mandy Moore who plays Rebecca, the matriarch of the Big 3 Pearson kids, shared a clip from her audition and spoke about the casting process.
Mandy says when she got the call-back, about five or six weeks later, she read with just one man up for the part of Rebecca’s husband Jack, Milo Ventimiglia.
The video above includes their first reading together, “a chemistry read,” in which Ventimiglia delivers his lines and gives Moore a neck kiss. As one fan wrote: “I can’t not smile and feel giddy when watching it.” Moore says, “We sort of just instantly had this connection.” And the rest is TV history!
This Is Us airs Tuesdays at 9 pm on NBC, right after The Voice at 8 pm.
