On the Season 6 premiere of When Calls the Heart, “Phone Rings and Heartstrings,” while Elizabeth (Erin Krakow) struggles to return to teaching after having her baby, Abigail (Lori Loughlin) brings telephones to Hope Valley. Also, three new characters are introduced: the charming new Mountie Nathan Grant (Kevin McGarry); the town’s first telephone switchboard operator Fiona Miller (Kayla Wallace), and mystery man Lucas Bouchard. For Bouchard, Hope Valley has become a safe, perfect little town for him to thrive. He loves the saloon and he knows gambling. As Chris McNally, the actor who portrays Lucas says: “He’s got a flair about him, so the saloon allows him to express his personality, and not everyone agrees with it.” And yes, Lucas and Nathan will vie for the attention of widow Elizabeth.
