Several convicted drug dealers have been featured on VH1 reality shows including Love & Hip Hop‘s Mendeecees Harris who’s currently serving an 8-year sentence, and Scrapp DeLeon who’s serving a 5-year sentence.
So it’s not a huge jump for VH1 to launch a new reality show about a group of young people who are related to infamous drug dealers and smugglers. While the cast of Cartel Crew are not following in the footsteps of their drug dealing ancestors, pride is heard in their voices when they speak of their legendary law-breaking loved ones who were serious players in drug cartels across the country — most of whom have been murdered while on the job. The words “descendants”, “ancestors”, and “legacies” are thrown around a lot.

The star of the show is Katherine “Tatu Baby” Flores. She owns the tattoo shop Till the End in Miami, and is the daughter of a former drug kingpin in Queens, New York who was assassinated when she was four years old. She is a mother now too of a young son. Flores says it’s a priority of hers for her son to spend time with his father, who was recently incarcerated. Cartel Crew airs Mondays at 9 pm on VH1, right after Love & Hip Hop. [NOTE: Stream VH1 shows from Amazon anytime — app is free]
