It’s Country Week on Season 27 of Dancing with the Stars. That means the eight remaining couples will dance to some of the biggest country music songs of today. Five emerging stars in country will sing their latest hits including Lauren Alaina and her “Ladies in the 90s” pop song and Chris Janson’s ballad “Drunk Girl.”
[“Drunk Girl” is on Jason’s album “Everybody”]
“Drunk Girl” encourages men to “take a drunk girl home” and to not take advantage of her, i.e. “Let her sleep all alone.” The bulk of the song was written in 2017 (before the #MeToo movement) by Tom Douglas* but Jason and Scooter Carusoe helped finish it. All three men are fathers of girls. But as Janson told Taste of Country, “We would hope that our boys would treat a girl like that too, so it’s a two-way street.” Dancing with the Stars airs Mondays at 8 pm on ABC.
*Tom Douglas also wrote the #1 hit “Grown Men Don’t Cry” for Tim McGraw 2001.
