Heidi Ho is a cheese substitute made of only plant-based products. The brainchild of food innovator Heidi Lovig, who wanted to solve what she saw as a problem with vegan cheese products, Heidi Ho has soared since it’s creation in 2011. Lovig teamed with partner Lyssa Story and discovered they weren’t the only vegans dissatisfied by substitute cheese choices on the market. (Heidi Ho contains no gluten, soy or corn, either, for good measure. They like ingredients like Chia seeds and hazelnuts — and a puree that can might include red potatoes, red bell peppers, carrots, onions, cashews, and more. Nut-free it isn’t.)
The Portland, Oregon, company rocked their Shark Tank appearance in 2015, winning an investment from nutrition-conscious Shark Lori Greiner. (Lori doesn’t just like what’s good for you though — she likes what’s good! Heidi Ho is available in a variety of flavors including smoky, spicy and blueberry.

And now Heidi Ho is a part of the Amazon.com network — at least since Amazon founder Jeff Bezos bought the natural foods juggernaut Whole Foods, where Heidi Ho is prominently carried. Check out the profile of Heidi Ho Organics on Whole Foods website, where Whole Foods boats is “firm enough for grating and meltable like real cheese! Their line includes hazelnut-based chipotle cheddar, smoked gouda, monterey jack, soy-based feta crumbles, a new cultured cashew chevre, and a chia cheeze sauce which is a fantastic nacho cheese alternative.” Makes you ask what kind of product you want to buy, but can’t find in the store. Make it and go see the Sharks!
