On the Black Ink Crew: Chicago episode “Barbie Tingz,” Phor leaves Chicago to pursue his rap career in Los Angeles with music producer London on Da Track. As Phor says, “If London puts his tag on your song, it’s as good as gold.” When Phor shows up in the studio, London explains that he’s working on the beats of 10 tracks and he wants Phor to do hooks for each one. And then when Phor’s done with the hooks, they’ll go through all the tracks and pick out the best one and then they’re going to finish it. (We’re not music producers but that sounds like a good plan!)

London doesn’t waste any time — he puts Phor in the booth right away. London is not immediately impressed. “Look man, if you’re gonna use my name, you gotta put that energy in it, man. C’mon.” London reiterates, “You gotta put that energy in the flow. You’re not putting your heart in it, man.” London does like the “laid back” side of Phor. Phor complains that London is “shuttin down everything before it starts. Like, ‘Bro, you’re throwing me off my game’.” Phor says he just has to get his feet wet, to get comfortable. London tells Phor “You asleep, wake up.” Black Ink Crew: Chicago airs Wednesdays at 8pm on VH1.
