Mikaila Ulmer, a little girl from Austin, Texas who discovered that bees were headed for extinction, made a lemonade using flaxseed. She started selling her BeeSweet Lemonade at a stand and events. At the age of nine, she pitched her business on Shark Tank in March 2015. She went into the Tank seeking an investment of $60,000 in exchange for 10 percent equity. Ulmer made a deal with Daymond John — $60,000 in exchange for 25 percent with the contingency that they could get BeeSweet into distributor on the East Coast.

After Shark Tank, in April 2016, BeeSweet announced an $11 million distribution deal with Whole Foods. All four flavors of BeeSweet — mint, ginger, iced tea, and prickly pear — are available in 144 Natural Grocers stores across the country, too! Mikaila is now 13 and the young social entrepreneur has been meeting some powerful people in politics including President Obama and entertainment (Shonda Rhimes). She has her own Facebook page.
