During the fourth round of auditions for Season 15 of So You Think You Can Dance, the judges are treated to a performance by salsa duo Melany Crystal Mercedes and Andrew Avila from Bronx, New York. The two dancers are former members of the Yamulee Dance Company. After their SYTYCD audition, Melany and Andrew receive a standing ovation from judges Nigel Lythgoe, Mary Murphy, tWitch, and Vanessa Hudgens.
Nigel is the first to speak, “I just knew something was going to happen there, I just knew it,” to which Melany says, “you can’t have all this sparkle for nothing.” Nigel goes on to point out all of the “marvelous” moves and told Andrew he’d like to see him smile more. “You have such an incredible smile, I want to know that you’re enjoying it.” Nigel also notes that he loves their style of salsa, “I love that free streetstyle.” Melany speaks up again, “That’s what we want to bring to the show.” So You Think You Can Dance airs Mondays at 8pm on FOX.
