Sunscreenr is a hand-held device with a built-in UV spectrum camera. If you look through it (like a camera) and point it at a person who just applied sun lotion to their skin, you’ll be able to see where the lotion is soaked in and the spots that haven’t been adequately covered with lotion. The inventor of Sunscreenr, biochemist Dave Cohen of Chapel, North Carolina, pitched his business on Shark Tank in October 2016. Cohenwent into the Tank seeking an investment of $800,000 in exchange for 10 percent equity. Yes, that’s a $8 million evaluation. Cohen accepted an offer from Kevin O’Leary — $800,000 for 33.3 percent.

In January 2017, Sunscreenr announced that the Shark Tank deal with Kevin O’Leary didn’t go through. “So we were left to supplement with our own personal funds and to seek out other investors,” Cohen writes on the Sunscreenr Kickstarter website. As of June 2018, Sunscreenr is not accepting pre-orders on its website. The company is not currently active on social media. The last post on Facebook was September 2017.
