On The Real Housewives of Potomac episode “A Happy Medium,” while Monique Samuels organizes a donation drive for the victims of Hurricane Harvey, Gizelle Bryant admits that she’s stressed out. While getting her hair down, she lets down her guard “and gets very vulnerable as the pressures of her life become too much.” She lists off “the girls, Sherman (her ex-NBA player boyfriend), and her mother, who lives in Houston. Luckily for her, “the [hurricane] damage was extremely small” to her home. But the experience has made her mother want to live near Gizelle and the girls, and she’s told Gizelle to go ahead and buy a home for her. Gizelle’s relationship with Sherman has a big effect on what kind of home she can provide for her mother. And at the moment, Gizelle doesn’t know what’s going to happen next in that relationship.

Gizelle tells the man coloring her hair, “I always ask myself, can I handle everything? That’s always my concern.” When Gizelle asks (maybe rhetorically), “How much of superwoman do I have to be?” The colorist reminds Gizelle, “Well, listen. This is what you say you want, and you live your life like that.” Ouch. The truth isn’t always easy to hear. Gizelle excuses herself “for a moment.” She leaves the chair and walks into a quiet hallway near the ladies’ room. She rests one hand against the wall and is heard sniffling. The Real Housewives of Potomac airs Sundays at 8pm on Bravo.
