Air Max Day came with some heavy promotion, as the signature I-can-see-the-air-in-the-heel-window Nikes celebrated a 30th anniversary on March 26. The classic Nike Air Max line was born in 1987, long after the Jordans made their debut — but before Nike really stomped all over the competition. The Air Max was like the iPhone of its moment — a high-tech, good-looking, must-have for a certain set of style-conscious consumers. Turned out there were tens of millions of them.
