In the Taco Bell TV commercial “Web of Fries,” a family man sits down with his wife and daughter at the dinner table with a bag of Taco Bell. The daughter says “I want fries,” which has the man wondering why Taco Bell doesn’t have fries. When he starts investigating online, the man gets mysterious phone calls and is given a hard-drive with a bootleg video on it. It’s a commercial for Nacho Fries — fries seasoned with Mexican spices and served with warm nacho cheese sauce. He believes there’s a Big Fry conspiracy. He tells his wife, “Someone doesn’t want you to taste them.” The concept and execution of the parody sends up movie heroes like Jason Bourne or Jack Reacher. But the leading man of “Web of Fries” isn’t Matt Damon or Tom Cruise. The “Web of Fries” hero is portrayed by actor Josh Duhamel.
The 6’4″ tall Duhamel, who was married to singer Fergie for eight years, is known for his roles on Battle Creek (Milt Chamberlain), All My Children (Leo du Pres), Las Vegas (Danny McCoy), and in the Transformers movies (as Lennox), Safe Haven opposite Julianne Hough (Alex), and Life as We Know It opposite Katherine Heigl, among others. You can see Duhamel next in the comedy series The Buddy Games with Olivia Munn and Dax Shepard.
