On the Survivor: Ghost Island episode “Only Time Will Tell,” host Jeff Probst tells the castaways to drop their buffs and switch tribes. That includes Desiree Afuye of the Naviti Tribe. A surprising swap will shake up the game but it shouldn’t rattle Desiree too much. The 21-year-old student from Nigeria lives with eight girls in Brooklyn. She knows how to handle many different personalities at once. She’s adaptable.
Two days before the tribes switch, Desiree posted the photo above with the caption: Eyes getting low but I’m still observing.” That’s a reference to the 2016 song “Used to This” by Future featuring Drake. It’s a song about the singers’ success and how accustomed they’ve become with their success. The line Desiree pulls out is about Drake not being complacent; his eyes are still open, aware of those lurking, wanting to be where he is, wanting his fame. With all the change around her, Desiree is keeping her eyes on the prize. Survivor: Ghost Island airs Wednesdays at 8pm on CBS.
