In the Season 6 premiere episode of Bar Rescue, “Put It on Cody’s Tab,” a young man named Cody Cochran takes over the failing family business, the GameTime Sports Bar in Arlington, Tennessee. It ain’t easy. According to Paramount Network, Cody’s father Bryan “is drinking his bar deeper in debt.” Cody faces not just his belligerent father but also a filthy kitchen. When Jon Taffer arrives he witnesses Bryan at the bar giving away shots. When Bryan’s wife Teresa (who works in the office) catches wind of what her husband is doing, she pulls him outside. In a moment of anger and frustration, Teresa pushes Bryan. “When a husband and wife start pushing each other, that’s crossing the line,” says Taffer. “And I’m going to go in and stop it.”
Taffer tells Cody that his father “is the obstacle” to his success. He doesn’t mince words. “You got f—ked by your father,” says Taffer, “and you have every reason to fight for this now.” (The debt of the bar is in Cody’s name.) Cody steps up to the challenge. He tells his father, “You can either help or get the f—k out.” At that moment, Bryan chooses the latter. The Game Time is now The Legacy Bar & Grille. Bar Rescue airs Sundays at 10pm on Paramount.
