Tony Chan of Los Angeles, California is interested in providing cost-efficient modes of transportation. At his company CoolPeds, he designs and makes electric vehicles including a lightweight electric scooter that carries a removable briefcase, and an electric roadster that has a range of up to 150 miles. Chan is pitching his business on Shark Tank on February 18. He’s looking for an investment of $250,000 in exchange for 5 percent equity of CoolPeds.
Kevin O’Leary tries out the electric scooter briefcase and car enthusiast Robert Herjavec looks tickled pink in Chan’s electric car Ampere. It doesn’t just look cool — the roadster has a vintage look to it — but it’s also fast (0-60 in 7 seconds) and it’s affordable, too, relatively speaking. Chan is selling Amperes for $9,900. He’s taking reservations for the car, which he aims to manufacture this spring, with a $200 deposit, which are 100 percent refundable. (You can reserve an Ampere electric roadster now by going to the Ampere reservation page.) Oh, and if you buy an Ampere now, you’ll get a free electric bike, too! New episodes of Shark Tank air Sundays at 10pm on ABC. [Related: 27 Favorite Shark Tank Products ]
