On the January 24 episode of Match Game, host Alec Baldwin welcomes a wonderful panel of comedic actors including Jack McBrayer (30 Rock), Ellie Kemper (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), Anthony Anderson (black-ish), Yvette Nicole Brown (The Mayor), Anna Camp (Pitch Perfect), and James Van Der Beek.
While Van Der Beek is well recognized for his role as Dawson on Dawson’s Creek, since then he’s been playing a number of hilarious mustached characters on TV including Bo Johnson, Pam’s ex on Modern Family, Mr. Frendt on Amazon’s Sea Oak with Glenn Close (based on the George Saunders story), and international superstar DJ Diplo on What Would Diplo Do?, among others. But on Match Game, Van Der Beek appears (kinda) clean-shaven. Maybe it’s due to his latest project — the upcoming FX musical drama Pose, directed by Ryan Murphy (American Horror Story). Set in New York City in 1986, Van Der Beek plays a financial kingpin and boss of Evan Peters (American Horror Story) who’s married to Kate Mara (House of Cards). The premiere of Pose, which will feature the largest transgender regular series cast, is scheduled for summer 2018. Match Game airs Wednesdays at 10pm on ABC.
