William H. Macy hits the Jimmy Kimmel set to chat with the host about Shameless, the dramatic Showtime series that Macy calls “refreshed, renewed and ready” for the new season. That’s season 8 btw, which premiered on Showtime — streaming on Amazon, Hulu and Sling TV— on November 5. Season 8 of Shameless sure is refreshed if you consider what’s promised: “Frank tries to become a contributing member of society, Fiona finds success as a landlord, Lip struggles to stay sober, Ian takes up a cause, and Debbie tries life as a working single mom.” The show’s biggest star may be its biggest fan too.

Macy watched the premiere while eating vodka ice cream that his wife, film and TV star Felicity Huffman got for him. At first he thought she was kidding but as you can see below, there really is “vodka ice cream.” Macy clearly adores the cast, thinks the show still rocks and knows he’s a lucky guy — even without vodka deserts. But it’s nice of him to do the research for us, and tell us how best to watch an episode of Shameless. When not acting or eating spiked ice cream, Macy is directing films and playing a lot of ukelele these days.
