In the Season 5 premiere of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Jake (Andy Samberg) and Rosa (Stephanie Beatriz) are in prison. When Holt and Terry visit Rosa she asks them for outrageous favors while Jake bonds with his cellmate Caleb and is forced to join a prison gang led by a criminal named Romero.

Romero is portrayed by Lou Diamond Phillips. He’s known for his tough guy roles on Hawaii Five-0 (US Marshal), The Night Stalker (serial killer Richard Ramirez), Blindspot (criminal Saul Gurerrero), Longmire (Henry Standing Bear), SGU Stargate Universe (Colonel David Telford), and Numb3rs (Agent Ian Edgerton), among many others. Phillips is also well recognized for his roles in the films La Bamba (Ritchie Valens), Young Guns (Jose Chavez y Chavez), and Courage Under Fire (Monfriez). Brooklyn Nine-Nine airs Tuesdays at 9:30pm ON FOX, after The Mick.
