After serving nine years in prison on armed robbery charges (he was given a 33-year sentence), former NFL player and Hollywood star O.J. Simpson will be released on parole on October 1. On the eve of his release, 48 Hours will air a special episode: O.J. Simpson: Endgame. CBS News special correspondent James Brown anchors.
[If I Did It, written by O.J. Simpson, is now owned by the victim’s family]
Brown interviews a number of people including Simpson’s former “Dream Team” lawyer Carl Douglas who believes the parole ruling is “the proper decision,” and journalist Sylvester Monroe, who was there when a jury acquitted Simpson of the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman in 1995. Monroe, who is now an editor at The Washington Post, tells 48 Hours that when Simpson is released “he’ll be trying to cash in one way or another.” 48 Hours airs Fridays at 9pm on CBS.
