McDonald’s is the nugget king — as everybody knows. We know this because lots of people refer to McNuggets when they’re really reaching for a generic brand from their own freezer. That’s branding, and that’s what McDonald’s has always excelled at. Now, a few years after discontinuing their Chicken Selects, McDonald’s is back pursuing the bigger, more batter-crusted chicken piece of the puzzle — here come the Buttermilk Crispy Tenders.
McDonald’s is betting that its “100% white meat chicken” tenders, “breaded to perfection” (and containing “no artificial preservatives, colors or flavors”) will be a huge hit — and that the new Buttermilk Crispy Tenders can co-exist on the menu with the classic McNuggets. A 10-piece serving contains 1210 calories, 66 grams of fat, and 3390mg of sodium according to the McDonald’s website.
