Academy Award-winner Jennifer Lawrence is sure to find herself in the Oscar conversation again when the thriller Red Sparrow hit theaters. The new trailer (see below), just dropped by 20th Century Fox, finds a red-dress wearing Lawrence sitting pensively on a bed. First voice we hear asks her to “take off your dress.” There’s a haunting tick-tock in the background, which echoes viewers’ heartbeats. In Moscow, young officers are trained to “seduce and manipulate.. to use their bodies, to use everything… they call them sparrows… that’s what she is.”
Lawrence plays Dominika Egorova, a former prima ballerina who makes every sacrifice imaginable to protect her mother. Lawrence, like her character, is a master of seduction and manipulation and the mood of the trailer is transfixing — just like the actress. The air of mystery is thick and the oil painting-like color rich with Rembrandt hues. The stellar cast includes Joel Edgerton, Matthias Schoenaerts, Charlotte Rampling, Mary-Louise Parker and Jeremy Irons. Hits theaters in March.
