On The Bachelorette, Season 13, 26-year-old white suitor Dean made a bold comment that stuck with the Bachelorette Rachel. He said, “I’m going black and never going back.” While some might find that comment to be insensitive, during the second episode Rachel tells Dean during their one-on-one: “I don’t care what anyone else says, I loved it.” She says she respects that he didn’t care what people thought. “I was already intrigued,” she says.

Rachel also confesses to Dean that she wanted to say it first — suggesting that that’s how he would feel after spending time with her. She tells Dean, “when I got off-stage, I was like ‘Oh my god, he stole my line.’ ” While Dean put his hand on Rachel’s bare knee during their casual conversation, he says he regrets not going in for a kiss — missed his chance. The Bachelorette airs Mondays at 8pm on ABC.
