ABC 20/20 interviews Pam Crews and Sherry Smith, two mothers who are trying to solve the mysterious deaths of their adult children. “They’re members of a sad sorority,” says 20/20 correspondent Deborah Roberts. Both women believe authorities have dropped the ball on their children’s murder investigations so they’re trying to find the truth by filing wrongful death lawsuits against the friends who last saw their children.
John and Pam Crews are suing their son Jonathan’s former girlfriend Brenda Lazaro who was with him when he was shot. Lazaro called 911 to report that Jonathan, 27, had shot himself on February 2, 2014. The Crews do not believe Jonathan committed suicide and are accusing Lazaro of “fatally shooting” their son and “giving inconsistent statements” about the shooting. The Crews family is seeking more than $1 million. Lazaro denies all claims made in the lawsuit. 20/20 airs Fridays at 10pm on ABC.
