After Howard Stern’s comments about his friend Donald Trump on Wednesday, media reports focused on Stern’s assessment that Trump’s mental health would be imperiled by the job. Stern speculated that Trump didn’t really want to win, but got caught in his candidate role and now he’s stuck in a new reality. For example the Trump Stern knows “loves Hollywood,” but now he has to be “on this anti-Hollywood kick.” Stern doesn’t think Trump’s new reality is all that real either, saying instead the new POTUS is playing to his supporters instead of his own instincts.
Because the Trump that Stern says he “remembers” held very different views than what Trump professes to believe now. “I remember him being very — I mean he was pro-abortion. So the new Donald Trump kind of surprised me.” Not only that, but Stern was “amazed” when Trump announced his candidacy because “I remember him being for Hillary,” Stern said. (Trump contributed money to her senate campaigns.) Stern speculated that Trump likely still is pro-Hollywood but that it’s harder since he’s done so much to anger the Hollywood crowd.
