In the America’s Next Top Model episode ‘Lights, Camera, Catwalk,’ before the models get into a heated discussion about race in the U.S., the top 14 contestants participate in a runway boot camp with supermodel Stacey McKenzie. The Jamaican-born model who was raised in Canada moved to Paris to pursue her modeling career where she modeled for Jean Paul Gaultier, Thierry Mugler and Christian Lacroix.
When not working a runway, McKenzie is running Walk This Way Workshops, a business that helps young men and women prepare for a career in modeling, fashion, and/or entertainment, and helps them build their self-esteem through self-acceptance. McKenzie knows how hard it can be as an aspiring model. She says, “I was teased by a lot of people because of the way I look and sound.” America’s Next Top Model airs Mondays at 10pm on VH1.
