Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich said he was “sick to my stomach” after Donald Trump won the presidential election. Popovich lamented the “disgusting tenor, tone and all the comments that have been xenophobic, homophobic, racist, misogynistic. Now the San Antonio Express-News reveals that Pop himself received some write-in votes for the POTUS gig — 25 of them in Bexar County, Texas, to be specific. Those are statement votes — George Washington, Beyonce, Michelle Obama and Ronald Reagan got votes too.
Popovich would need 60 million more votes (and even then he wouldn’t take the job). But his personal election dismay hadn’t ebbed as of last week. “It’s still a disorienting situation when you thought you lived in a certain kind of country with certain values that were held in esteem and find out those values aren’t very important to half the country,” he said.
