Gretchen Carlson is the former Miss USA (1989) from Minnesota who was a musical prodigy (violin), went to Stanford and then became a successful news anchor on FOX. She’s married to sports agent Casey Close and lives in the tony town of Greenwich, Connecticut where they raise their two children. Her climb to the top hasn’t been easy as she describes in her memoir Getting Real. In July, she filed a lawsuit against then-Fox News CEO Roger Ailes claiming sexual harassment. In September, she and FOX settled for $20 million.
On ABC 20/20, Carlson will discuss her life and share some of the stories in Getting Real which was released prior to the lawsuit. Former Miss USA turned Broadway star Vanessa Williams wrote a blurb as did NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Fran Tarkenton, and her former FOX colleague Bill O’Reilly. O’Reilly wrote a three sentence blurb for Carlson’s Getting Real. Here’s the first sentence: “My Fox News colleague, Gretchen Carlson, has written a book and here’s what I like about it: clarity!”
