The headline at NBA.com is “Kevin Durant Heats Up As Warriors Outlast Kings.” And indeed KD was en fuego, scoring 25 points in 26 minutes in a 105-96 victory. But it was a strange feeling in the Bay Area for the home team (even if it was played in San Jose instead of Oakland). Why? Because Steph Curry, that’s why.
The two-time (and current) NBA MVP Curry played 11 seconds more than Durant — logging a solid 25:36. But Curry made just three shots from the field. He really took the splash out of Splash Brothers, which will have a very hard time becoming the Splash Triplets it seems. Fellow Splash brother Klay Thompson made just four shots. He and Curry combined for 24 points, one less than Durant’s total. One thing that remained the same for Golden State in this already very unusual season? The W. That’s what went into the books, just as it did 73 times out of 82 last regular season. Curry shot 37.5 percent from the field.
