In the TV pilot Conviction, the protagonist is Hayes Morrison, a former First Daughter who’s been blackmailed into leading a government agency comprising lawyers, detectives and forensic experts. Their job is to re-examine legal cases of innocent people who were jailed for crimes they didn’t commit.
Conviction stars English-born actress Hayley Atwell (Peggy Carter of Agent Carter) as Morrison. Her first case involves a former high-school football player who is serving time for the murder of his girlfriend. Atwell’s character is serious but at a reading for Conviction, Atwell brought her rabbit and her appreciation of a good pun (see below). Conviction airs Mondays at 10pm on ABC.
