On the Season 28 premiere of The Simpsons, ‘Monty Burns’ Fleeing Circus,’ the city of Springfield has burned to the ground. Seeing no other recourse, the Simpsons family turns to Mr. Burns for money to rebuild the city. Mr. Burns agrees as long as he gets to put on a variety show at the Springfield Bowl. Mr. Burns’ interest in stage entertainment goes way back. The episode includes a sepia-toned flashback to his childhood (in 1913) with his mother whose voice is provided by comedian Amy Schumer. (In past episodes, the 122-year-old Mrs. Burns has been voiced by Tress MacNeille.)
The Simpsons airs Sundays at 8pm on FOX. If you can’t get enough of Schumer on The Simpsons, tune in to the Season 15 premiere episode of Family Guy where she provides the voice of the “Crew Leader.” Family Guy airs Sundays at 9pm on FOX (Son of Zorn airs in between but does not include Schumer.)
