In the fifth season premiere episode of Basketball Wives LA, while Jackie deals with her husband, NBA player Doug Christie, receiving a new job offer, Brandi Maxiell doesn’t know if she’s going to move back to L.A. after her big fight with Shaunie in Puerto Rico. That trip continues to play out and the friction continues between Angel Brinks and Malaysia Pargo. Luckily, there’s a new story line, too. Brandi’s “sister” Duffey has joined the cast.
Duffey is a 26-year-old hip hop DJ from Dallas. She’s the official DJ for rapper Curren$y and has DJed for other stars including Amber Rose. “I’m a bad bitch,” she introduces herself on the show. She was married to a professional athlete but it lasted just five months. “When he went into the NFL, he got big-headed and left me,” when she was six months pregnant. Duffey says she’s now happily dating a basketball agent. Fun fact: Duffey had a four-year scholarship at University of Texas at Arlington, where she played Division I basketball. Basketball Wives LA airs Sundays at 9pm on VH1.
