You can’t miss Max Landis at San Diego Comic-Con. Not only does he have a lot to say but he’s currently wearing a rainbow colored mohawk. At an event promoting Dirk Gently, a new sci-fi series coming to BBC America starring Samuel Barnett and Elijah Wood, Landis spoke enthusiastically about the holistic detective Dirk Gently (Barnett). “You can’t really hire him unless you were meant to.” He added, “And if you were meant to, that means something really weird is going to happen.”
[Dirk Gently is based on the novels written by the late Douglas Adams]
Landis, 29, is known for writing screenplays for the difficult to categorize Victor Frankenstein starring Daniel Radcliffe, the 2015 film Mr. Right starring Anna Kendrick and Sam Rockwell, and the 2012 drama, sci-fi thriller Chronicle starring Michael B. Jordan. Fun fact: Max Landis is the son of filmmaker John Landis (National Lampoon’s Animal House, An American Werewolf in London, Trading Places, among others). Dirk Gently will premiere on BBC America on October 22, 2016.
