On August 8, 2007, single mother Amanda Lewis called 911 and said she found her 7-year-old daughter Adrianna in the pool and not breathing. Adrianna died at the hospital an hour later. Police thought it was an accidental drowning until Adrianna’s half-brother AJ, then 5-years-old, told them that he saw his mother “dunk” Adrianna in the 4-foot deep above-ground pool outside — as a form of punishment.
When investigators noted a lack of toys in the house, Lewis said the toys had been taken away as punishment and were stored in the shed. But no toys were found in the shed. Lewis was charged with first-degree murder and was offered a plea bargain – if she pleaded guilty to manslaughter she’d get 10 years in prison. But claiming her innocence, she went to trial instead. In 2015, Lewis was found guilty of first-degree murder and is now serving a life sentence in jail. Lewis will be interviewed by Piers Morgan, host of Killer Women which airs Fridays at 8pm on TLC.
