In the musical Waitress, Jenna (portrayed by Tony Award winner Jessie Mueller) is a waitress who dreams of opening her own pie shop. But she feels stuck — in her small town, in her marriage, and in an unexpected pregnancy. In order to pursue her dream, Jenna is going to need to find a lot of courage. Singing songs like “It Only Takes a Taste” seem to help.

Jessie Mueller is nominated for Best Actress in a Musical. Composer and lyricist Sara Bareilles is nominated too. The 36-year-old hit mainstream popularity in 2007 with her hit single “Love Song.” Since then she’s released five studio albums including her latest, What’s Inside: Songs From Waitress. The 70th Annual Tony Awards will be televised on June 12 at 8pm on CBS.
