Bismack Biyombo might be the next Dennis Rodman — and you can be sure that’s something his agent is going to mention a bit this summer. It’d be a smart idea for Biyombo to start wearing a Rodman t-shirt with his own Game 3 Eastern Conference Finals stats stamped on the back. Those stats, btw? How about 26 rebounds and four blocks, while making half of his six shot attempts? Rodman-esque, those numbers.
Name an NBA GM who can resist the idea? Biyombo, an athletic 6’9″ forward/center from Lubumbashi, Congo, averaged 9.8 boards and blocked 27 shots in the post-season. This man averaged 8 rebounds a game during the regular season — and he played just 22 minutes per contest. And like Rodman he hardly shoots at all, an attribute becoming swiftly more valuable in a rebounding big man as the NBA game moves increasingly out to the perimeter and post play vanishes.
