In the Bar Rescue episode “Demolition Man,” the makeshift bar Grinders in Santa Clarita, California is close to being shut down by the city. Grinders owner Dave Murrie decided to turn the former pizzeria into a bar without a permit. Murrie and his wife Jessica bought the place for $77,000, and invested an additional $100,000 in (illegal) renovations.
When Bar Rescue’s Jon Taffer arrives, he wants city code-breaking Dave to admit that he’s a loser but he won’t. Luckily, Jessica is more levelheaded. Together they’re able to turn Grinders into The Cajun Belle, a legitimate bar that serves southwest Cajun fusion food and their signature pizza. Bar Rescue airs Sundays at 9pm on Spike.
