Laremy Tunsil, the giant offensive tackle from the University of Mississippi might have been the #1 pick in the NFL draft. (Yup, offensive linemen go before quarterbacks sometimes — see The Blindside.) But Tunsil himself got blindsided when a video of him taking an elaborate bong hit through a mask was posted to his Twitter account. Tunsil says his account was hacked. That seems likely — he would have had to be really high to post it himself. He told TV commentators that it was a mistake, and that the video was years old.
Tunsil dropped to the 13th pick. He may turn out to be the steal of the draft after his perceived value took as big a hit as he did. The Miami Dolphins stepped up and grabbed Tunsil with the 13th selection, getting a big fast talented guy who now has something to prove to everyone. Miami would seem a good spot for Tunsil, since the Dolphins for years had the most effective and famous pot smoker in NFL history on its roster. The remarkable stoner running back Ricky Williams rushed for more than 10,000 yards in his NFL career, most of them in a Dolphins uniform. Tunsil deleted his Twitter account. Whoever hacked it might want to remember this bit of data: Tunsil is 6’5″, 300-plus pounds.
