Two men from Encinitas, California (including professional snowboarder Keir Dillon) are the entrepreneurs behind Frends Headphones, high-end headphones designed for women. If you think women won’t pay $150 to $250 for a set of glamorous headphones, then you just don’t get the luxury market…women, or America. They’re designed to be worn like jewelry. In fact, several Frends Headphones incorporate Swarovski Gemstones. Frends proudly boasts that one cap of the Frends Taylor Gunmetal with Swarovski Zirconia ($250) takes 15 hours to make from start to finish.
If Swarovski doesn’t satisfy your designer headphones quota, maybe Dolce & Gabbana will. Frends has partnered with the Italian fashion label to produce a number of limited edition headphones that range in price from $6,995 to $8,895 (materials include red leather, faux fur, bronze, et al). All Frends come with three-button mics with volume, music and phone controls, and an adjustable, genuine leather headband, memory foam ear cushions, and they are collapsible to fit in a clutch. Frends with be pitched on Shark Tank, which airs Fridays at 9pm on ABC.
