The 58th edition of the great Daytona 500 has invited WWE phenom John Cena back to kick things off again. Cena was named the honorary starter for the 2012 Daytona 500, a race won by Matt Kenseth racing for Roush Fenway. In 2016 Cena will be the honorary pace car driver, even closer to his speed.
Cena is a big time car nut, who owns a massive collection of muscle cars mostly of the Detroit, Michigan persuasion. Cena’s collection ranges from a 1966 Dodge Hemi Charger to a 2009 Chevy Corvette ZR1, according to one list. Cena’s natural inclination will be to stay in the race one it starts, but he’ll stick with the pace car’s purpose in this case. For race day tips, check out this fresh list from the Daytona International Speedway. The Daytona 500 will be shown on Fox on Sunday, February 21.
