Duke basketball has inspired a lot of people to achieve, while also inspiring a lot of haters. This play will satisfy both. Those trying to emulate the tried-and-true Coach K recipe for success apparently includes Ohio State guard Jae’Sean Tate. In the video below he’s seen slapping the floor — an old move made popular at Duke late last century.

Meanwhile, Nebraska guard Tai Webster just blows right past Tate. Like many who emulate Duke, Tate just didn’t get it right. It’s not ridiculous to slap the floor — that shows your knees are in good crouched defensive position (which is what Duke players were signalling.) The problem with Tate is he looks down at the floor. That shows he’s not ready to play. If you want to be like Duke, you’ve got to get it right. You can almost hear Coach K screaming get your head up! The Buckeyes escaped with a win anyway.
