Will 2015 be remembered as the year that press junkets went awry? Both Robert Downey, Jr. and Robert de Niro got huffy at journalists and walked out of interviews. Jeremy Renner and Chris Evans got into hot water for their off-color jokes about a character in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Tom Hardy shut down a reporter’s question about his sexuality. R. Kelly ended an interview when it got awkward over rape allegations. And now a film critic has gone on a Twitter rant after Tom Hardy didn’t show up for an interview. Hitfix’s Drew McWeeny waited for several hours to interview Hardy about The Revenant, but the actor was a no-show. “It is unspeakably shitty to assume I have nothing better to do the week before Christmas than sit around waiting for a five minute chat,” McWeeny tweeted.
Apparently McWeeny did have time to vent on Twitter, though. “I’ll say it: Tom Hardy should stop doing junkets,” he tweeted. “He’s terrible at them, and he makes it impossible for anyone to do their jobs. F*ck him.” It didn’t end there. McWeeny went on to write that Hardy has made publicists cry, “and chose to take a nap during my scheduled time in Toronto.” He also called Hardy a spoiled baby and “a delicate f*cking flower.”
