On the 19 Kids and Counting spinoff Jill & Jessa Duggar: Counting On, the sisters are asked by producers to speak about their brother Joshua Duggar who, as a teenager, molested underage children including Jill and Jessa, and as an adult was caught using the infidelity website Ashley Madison to have an affair. Josh is married to Anna, the mother of his four children. During the interviews, Jill and Jessa never use the word molestation or affair. They refer to the molestation as “the first stuff” (the news broke in May) and the affair as “the second stuff” (which broke in August).

All the Duggars are avoiding using real words. Brother John-David Duggar told People magazine, “After everything started to settle down from the first release of stuff [molestation of five underage girls] in the news about Josh, we got word of a second thing [extramarital affair] that we had no clue about.” John-David adds, “That [Josh’s affair] was a little more of a shock probably than the first stuff [molesting underage girls including his sisters] coming out.” That’s right, he just said that the incestuous molestation of the underage girls including his own sisters was less shocking that a run-of-the-mill marital affair. How can that be less shocking? Jill & Jessa: Counting On premieres on TLC on December 13 at 8pm.
