In The Blacklist episode “Zal Bin Hasaan”, a past family tragedy haunts FBI agent Samar Navabi (Mozhan Marnò) on the job. The Task Force is gunning after international terrorist Zal Bin Hasaan, who was a member of the Irani regime that is responsible for the death of Samar’s brother, Shahin. (The falcon tattoo on Samar’s arm is to represent her brother. In Farsi, “Shahin” means falcon.)
Shahin Navabi is portrayed by Sammy Sheik. The Egyptian-born actor has appeared on several American TV shows including Scandal (Navid Turani), Hawaii Five-0 (Kahilil), Legends (Ahmed Hassan), Tyrant (Hamid Mahfouz), Homeland (Imam Rafan Gohar), United States of Tara (Hany), and 24 (Masheer Abu-Marzuq). Sheik has also appeared in the films American Sniper (Mustafa), Lone Survivor (Taraq), and Charlie Wilson’s War (Stinger Mujahideen), among others. The Blacklist airs Thursdays at 9pm on NBC.
